MSA เป็นหนึ่งใน Core Tool หรือเครื่องมือหลักในการบริหารคุณภาพในอุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนในระบบการวัด เพื่อทำให้มั่นใจว่าข้อมูลที่ได้จากการใช้เครื่องมือวัดต่าง ๆ จะสามารถให้ค่าที่เชื่อถือได้ อันมีผลต่อการตัดสินใจต่อคุณภาพของผลิตภัณฑ์ ซึ่งจะช่วยสร้างความมั่นใจต่อกระบวนการผลิตและคุณภาพผลิตภัณฑ์
